4 Year Old

Program

Playing with mud, water, and sand; tending to fruit and veggies growing in the garden; engaging with the worm farm; outdoor play in all kinds of weather – we recognise that this is how children develop respect for the natural environment and nurture their relationship with Country.

Running; jumping; climbing; crawling; stretching; sneaking; swinging; hopping; dancing; stomping; sliding; balancing; riding – we know that active children become aware of their bodies and capabilities, which reduces their risk of injury and supports them to actively engage in play.

Open-ended art experiences; constructions that require balancing on chairs to complete; sharing their perspectives and listening to the perspectives of others; problem solving with limited adult intervention – we trust that children are capable and courageous, and we are committed to demonstrating this trust in all of our interactions with them.

4 year old kinder is a time to investigate, explore, adventure, ponder, discover, invent, and consider. Play is the single best way for children to learn and this recognition is visible in all of the choices we make in our program. Through play, we support children to develop their independence and social / emotional skills so that they can flourish – at kinder and beyond.
