Our 4 year old kindergarten team:

Anne

I hold a Masters in Early Childhood.  I have spent most of my adult working life employed in community based Victorian Preschool services working with the child, family and parent committees. I value a balance of play based and intentional teaching as the means of delivering the program for 3 to 5 year olds.

I am an arts oriented educator who values the natural outdoor learning environment and engagement with Australian history and culture as aspects of our identity. I value the contribution individual children bring to the developing program. I enjoy supporting the child’s steps in managing personal, social and intellectual challenges. I believe the opportunity to engage in meaningful ‘play’ and the organisation of the environment to stimulate and encourage engagement are important aspects of my approach to ‘teaching and learning’ with the young child.

Brooke
I have worked in various early childhood settings for over 14 years. My experience extends from working in preschools, long day care and in home care (as a nanny). I have also completed my Diploma in Community Services. Over this time I have thoroughly enjoyed working with children of all ages and their families. I have found it extremely rewarding to be part of watching the children learn and develop, and gain a sense of identity over the time I have spent with them. Being a mother myself I value the importance of children developing a sense of belonging in their environment by ensuring that they and their families feel supported, safe and valued. I look forward to developing new relationships and working together with all of the families at Wahroonga Preschool as part of your child’s learning journey. On a personal note I am kept busy with my two school aged boys. Our weeknights and weekends are spent training and playing sports which I love to actively be involved in. I also enjoy travelling and going camping with family and friends.

I look forward to meeting and welcoming you and your family to the Preschool.

Our 3 year old kindergarten team:

Katrina

My name is Katrina and I have been involved in the early childhood sector for over 20 years now. I have had experience working and volunteering in childcare services, play therapy, sessional kindergarten, as well as working in a long day kindergarten that was based in a research and demonstration kindergarten, for The University of Melbourne.

I have completed a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies from The University of Melbourne in 2002 and
completed a Diploma of Creative Dance from Mangala Dance Studios in 2010.

I believe children are very capable and curious individuals, with a keen interest to learn and explore.
Therefore, I like to adopt a play-based approach to learning that also includes, intentional teaching
experiences and project/inquiry based learning, which can facilitate and progress each individual child’s learning and development, in meaningful, interesting, stimulating and fun ways. Some of my professional interests that form a basis for my teaching and programming include;
• Social and Emotional Education
• Environmental Education
• Group learning: being part of a community
• The Arts and Aesthetics in learning

Faye

Hello I am Faye and I have been at Wahroonga Preschool since 2011. However my association with Wahroonga is much longer than that as my four children all attended this wonderful Preschool. I first walked through the doors in 1992 with my daughter. My four children, two girls followed by two boys, are now adults and we have recently welcomed our first Grandson.

I have a Certificate III in Children’s Services and a background in Inclusion Support and have worked at various Preschools in this capacity. Through this work I have gained skills in supporting parent and child through the transition into Preschool.

I enjoy being part of the early years journey through 3 year old Preschool where I support the growth, development and transition from toddler to Preschooler.
